Terms of use

Last updated: 2026-10-17

These terms apply when you use the OkPaw app. Before your first check, the app asks you to accept them. If you don't accept them, please don't use the app.

Who we are

OkPaw is provided by Dalsten Group, Sweden. Contact: [email protected].

What OkPaw is – and is not

OkPaw is a tool that helps dog and cat owners judge how urgent a problem is, and keep track of their pet's health. It gives general guidance on whether and how soon to see a vet.

OkPaw is not a veterinary service. It does not examine your pet, and it does not give a diagnosis, treatment or prescription. It does not replace a vet.

The answers are written automatically by an AI model, within fixed safety rules that we set. No vet reviews the individual answer. An answer rests only on what you describe and show, and it can be wrong or incomplete.

If your pet seems seriously ill, or you are worried, contact a vet – whatever the app says. Never wait with care because of an answer from the app, and never give your pet medicine on the basis of the app.

Emergencies

Don't use OkPaw instead of going to a vet in an emergency. Go to a vet or an emergency clinic straight away if your pet, for example:

• has trouble breathing, or its gums or tongue are pale, blue or grey;
• is bleeding heavily, or has been hit by a car or fallen from a height;
• has collapsed, has a seizure or cannot stand;
• may have eaten or touched something poisonous;
• has a swollen, hard belly and tries to vomit without anything coming up;
• is straining without passing urine – above all a male cat;
• is in severe pain.

The app needs the internet and other companies' services and can be unavailable. Never rely on OkPaw as your only way to get help in an emergency – keep your vet's and the nearest emergency clinic's numbers at hand.

Who can use it

You must be at least 16 years old. If you are under 18, you need a parent's or guardian's permission to buy anything in the app.

Your part

Describe your pet's situation as truthfully and completely as you can – the answer depends on it.

Use the app only for your own pets or pets in your care. Don't use it to harm anyone, to send unlawful content, to get around its limits, or to extract or copy the service by automated means.

Your content

What you write and the photos you take remain yours. You allow us to process them to give you the answer you ask for, as described in the privacy policy. Don't send content you have no right to share, or content about other people.

Information from others

The list of vet clinics is based on OpenStreetMap (© OpenStreetMap contributors, available under the Open Database License) and on other public sources. Clinics close, move and change their opening hours, so the list can be out of date or incomplete. Always call the clinic before you go, above all at night and at weekends.

Phone numbers for animal poison lines come from our own checked list, but numbers and opening hours can change.

The list of poisonous foods and plants only contains known hazards. That something is not on the list does not mean it is safe. The chocolate calculator gives an estimate, not a diagnosis.

OkPaw Plus

Some features need OkPaw Plus. It is sold as an auto-renewing subscription (monthly or yearly) or, where offered, as a one-time lifetime purchase. The price and what is included are shown in the app before you buy. The urgency level and the warning signs for every check are always free, and urgent answers are always shown in full.

Purchases are made through Apple's App Store or Google Play, with the payment method of your account there. A subscription renews automatically at the end of each period until you cancel it. If there is a free trial, it turns into a paid subscription at the price shown when the trial ends, unless you cancel before then.

You cancel in your App Store or Google Play account settings. Cancelling stops future renewals; you keep Plus until the end of the period you have paid for. Refunds are handled by Apple or Google under their rules.

A lifetime purchase gives you Plus, without renewals, for as long as we provide OkPaw. If we ever shut OkPaw down, we'll tell you in the app at least 6 months beforehand. If the shutdown happens within 24 months of your lifetime purchase, we refund the part of the price that matches the months left of those 24 – contact [email protected].

If you are a consumer in the EU or EEA, you normally have 14 days to withdraw from a purchase. You make the request to Apple or Google, under their rules. Your rights under the law of your country are not limited by these terms.

Availability and changes

We try to keep OkPaw working at all times, within our technical and operational means, but we can't promise that it always works without interruption or errors – for example during maintenance or when a service we depend on is down. We may change, add or remove features. If a change clearly reduces what you have paid for, we'll tell you in the app beforehand, and you can cancel and get back what you have paid for the time left.

Our responsibility

We are fully liable for damage we cause intentionally or through gross negligence, for harm to the life, body or health of a person, under product liability law, and wherever the law does not allow liability to be limited.

For slight negligence we are liable only if we breach an essential obligation – one that makes the service possible at all and that you may normally rely on – and then only for the foreseeable damage that is typical for a service like this one. Otherwise we are not liable for slight negligence. The same limits apply to our employees and the people who help us.

OkPaw gives guidance, and you decide about your pet's care. If you don't follow the app's advice to contact a vet, or you wait despite signs of an emergency, this counts as your own share of the cause when any claim is assessed.

Nothing in these terms limits your rights as a consumer under the law of your country.

Our rights

The app, its texts, illustrations and name belong to Dalsten Group. You get a personal, non-transferable right to use the app for your own, non-commercial purposes.

Ending

You can stop using OkPaw at any time by deleting the app; remember to cancel a subscription separately in your store account. We may stop providing the service to someone who seriously breaks these terms.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms, for example when the law or the app changes. The date at the top shows the latest version. We'll tell you about an important change in the app at least 30 days before it applies, and ask you to accept it. If you don't accept it, you can cancel your subscription and get back what you have paid for the time left.

Law and disputes

Swedish law applies to these terms. If you are a consumer, you also keep the protection of the mandatory rules in the country where you live, and you can bring a dispute to the courts there. Contact us first at [email protected] – we want to solve it. Consumers in Sweden can also turn to the National Board for Consumer Disputes (ARN, arn.se).

If a part of these terms is not valid, the rest still applies.

These terms are also available in other languages. If a translation differs from the English version, the English version applies as far as the law allows; if anything is unclear, it is read in your favour as a consumer.
